ECSA is formed by the three European composer federations: the Alliance of Popular Music Composers in Europe (APCOE), the European Composers Forum (ECF), and the Federation of Film & Audiovisual Composers of Europe (FFACE). In sum, ECSA comprises the following national composer societies:

The three main European composer federations have their own statutes and agenda’s. United under the roof of ECSA, all three organization represent together the entire European composer and songwriter community.
APCOE (Alliance of Popular Composer Association in Europe) is the pillar of ECSA that deals specifically with issues affecting the composers and songwriters of popular music. There are currently 14 European member countries. APCOE is registered under UK law, the current Chairman is the Swedish composer Alfons Karabuda. Mr. Karabuda is also the Executive Chairman of ECSA.
ECF (European Composers Forum) is the pillar under ECSA that deals specifically with issues affecting the composers of arts and concert music. ECF sets impulses and initiates activities to preserve contemporary music creation in Europe today and tomorrow and acts as a driving motor to increase the awareness for and the reception of contemporary music - in regard for its creators: the living composers in Europe. ECF is registered under Austrian law, the current Chairman of ECF is the Austrian composer Klaus Ager.

FFACE (Federation of Film and Audiovisual Composer in Europe) is the pillar under ECSA dealing specifically with issues affecting the composers of film and audiovisual music. The Federation aims to assert and maintain the specificity of the profession, reinforce the dialogue with producers, editors and broadcasters, enrich respective professional cultures, allow for a greater hearing by the European authorities and facilitate exchanges and mobility at the time of international co-productions. FFACE is registered under French law, the current Chairman of FFACE is the Spanish film-music composer Ignacio Perez. The French film music composer Bernard Grimaldi represents FFACE in the executive board of ECSA.
